But you’re likely guilty AF of not consuming enough water every day. I hear your complaints: water is boring, I need something with flavor, and am too busy to drink enough.

Do You Need a Special Water Bottle to Make Infused Water?

Nope! While infusion water pitchers are handy, they are also entirely unnecessary. I have used a regular glass pitcher, mason jars, and a glass sun tea jar that is in heavy use when I’m making batch after batch of Healthy Sweet Tea.

The benefits of using the sun tea jar are that you can make a lot at once and you don’t have to worry about any of the cucumber or mint plopping into your glass.

How to Make Cucumber and Mint Water

Combine cucumber, mint, and water in a large pitcher. Let sit at room temperature or in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to release the flavors.

Once empty, you can refill the pitcher once and still retain some flavor.

What Are the Benefits of Cucumber And Mint Water?

You’ll never find me using the word “detox” or “dieting” or “skinny recipe” on this site, simply because I don’t like the associations those words can bring up. I’d rather just share healthy recipes that people want to eat because they’re delicious and makes them feel great!

Cucumber water gets a reputation as detox water because people often drink it during cleanses. My two cents: your body has the tools it needs to detoxify itself as long as you provide it with good stuff.

One of the best ways to help your body be at peak form is to drink enough water! If making infused water recipes helps you drink more water, then put that in the “win” column.

That being said, this cucumber mint water is packed with lots of great things! Cucumbers are rich in:

  • Antioxidants
  • Beta carotene
  • Potassium
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin K

And mint has been shown to help with digestion and an upset stomach. So basically, this cucumber mint water is pure goodness hidden behind the appearance of a fancy AF spa water.

How Long Can You Keep Mint Leaves in Water?

Mint has strong oils in the leaves and those oils are what flavor water or other liquids. Check out this post on Homemade Peppermint Extract if you’d like to preserve some of the fresh minty goodness.

Over time, those oils can become overpowering in this infused water. With that in mind, I would remove any fresh mint leaves from the cucumber and mint water after 24 hours.

Many mint water recipes will call for you to muddle the mint (mush it up a bit to release the oils) to flavor the water. My preference is to leave the mint leaves whole so that the flavor is more subtle and doesn’t overpower the cucumber flavor.

Pro Tips/Recipe Notes

  • When you’re finally done with the water, save the (now soggy) mint and cucumber. Combine it in a blender or food processor and pour into an ice cube tray and freeze. Add them to plain sparkling water for a fun treat.
  • You can keep infused water recipes in the fridge for up to 24 hours.

  • You can use other fruits to make different flavored water recipes. Berries, melon, peaches, and strawberries all make delicious fruit infused water.
  • Add lime or lemon for a fun take on this cucumber mint water. Peel the citrus if possible, as the peel contains components that make the water bitter after a few hours.
